Announcing: Haymarket’s new partnership with Boston Review!
Haymarket Books is glad to announce a new publishing partnership with Boston Review, an independent and nonprofit magazine of ideas and culture.
Beginning September 2023, Haymarket Books will distribute and promote Boston Review’s backlist and new issues to the book trade.
"We’ve long admired Boston Review’s commitment to creating spaces for robust discussions of ideas and politics,” says Haymarket editor Katy O’Donnell. “We’re excited to help promote the work of such a historic magazine and support the contributions of its illustrious writers.” Boston Review publisher and coeditor-in-chief, Deborah Chasman, says, “With all the overlap in our missions and work, I can’t imagine a better partner in the effort to extend the reach of our content.”
The partnership announcement coincides with the launch of Boston Review’s summer 2023 issue On Solidarity, in which organizer and political theorist Mie Inouye leads a forum on obstacles to collective action today. Rejecting the language of “allyship” and the politics of deference, she makes the case for maintaining solidarity through conflict in durable institutions over time, none of which is possible without the hard work of good organizing. With responses from activists and theorists—from Rev. William J. Barber II, Astra Taylor, and Sarah Schulman to Charisse Burden-Stelly, Jodi Dean, David Roediger, and Juliet Hooker—the forum helps us think about what solidarity is and what it requires.
